Wearing face masks has been widely demonstrated to reduce the risk of contracting respiratory illnesses, such as COVID-19 and influenza. This face mask is intended to protect the wearer from large droplets, sprays and splashes of bodily fluids, as well as prevent the release of potential contaminants from the user into their immediate environment. Surgical/Medical face masks are typically used on hospital floors, isolation units, and labor and delivery units, among other areas of the hospital for general “respiratory etiquette”, with the purpose of reducing the spread of germs transmitted via talking, coughing, or sneezing. These medical face masks are intended for use in clean, non-sterile, environments such as the hospital emergency departments and the intensive care units.
